Temâşâ*(arabic) // Performance & Drama School in Istanbul,Kadıkoy (Architectural Project V)

*Flâner, to stroll.
*Thing worth to see.
*Theater.

Questioning begins where actual and virtual collided.

In education data is given like pills and swallowed without no digestion. On the contrary, questioning the given data and process of questioning is more valuable then data itself. Hence questioning should be taught in schools.

Theater itself can be used as a tool to teach questioning, as in Social Experiments. By collision of actual, real person, and virtual, character with a script, in a adjusted space, theater stage, questioning starts in the mind of a real person. Both person and character can learn from this experiment. Person starts questioning, character learns the reactions of its script in real life.

In Temaşa, it is aimed to use theater for questioning. Society becomes the spectators of the play, city becomes stage itself and Temaşa stays in the center of all this.

Garden of Alekos ( Architectural Design IV )

*Threshold is a undefined space in between time. Like museums and cemeteries. With a step you are walking amongst the dead memories, another step you are in todays world.

* Yannis is a gardener living in Kandilli,İstanbul. He shares myths of a plants, such as Daphne,Narcissus, with folk. During 6/7 September Pogrom in İstanbul, he moves back to Greece. Alekos, grandson of Yannis, grows with his grandfathers tales and eventually become a botanist. In time he come to Istanbul to search for his roots and the myth of a special tree… Cercis Siliquastrum (Judas Tree)

* Events and spaces must be tied each other with rational or irrational motivations. That linkage affects users or viewers perception as in Kuleshov Effect.  To affect perception and link two sequence in cinema  montage techniques and music are commonly used techniques.  To perform these in architecture guidance of light, interaction between shadow and light, variations in plan is used in architecture. Design process is conducted as montage of Alekos’s story.
